7 things I plan to do before I die:
1. Write a book or two
2. Travel to the UK and other points in Europe
3. Run for political office of some sort (side note: did you read where 20% of elected officials thought that the electoral college was set up to monitor the first televised presidential debates? good grief, that's beyond pathetic; I think I may have a shot at winning)
4. Teach Hudson (and Grace Ann if she wants) how to play golf, among many many other things
5. Participate in a ministry outside our church, probably SOS Memphis
6. Drive some other type of automobile besides a Jeep (I'm almost ready to park the Grand Cherokee on the side of the road, unlocked, with the engine idling...and just walk away)
7. Own some decent acreage somewhere to piddle with
7 things I do now:
1. Read medical records of people that want money from my clients
2. Visit about six websites every morning and throughout the day: instapundit.com (my former Constitutional law professor's blog), drudgereport.com, cnn.com, espn.com, lileks.com (funny columnist), and wsj.com
3. Listen to NPR news during my approximate 35 minute (one way) commute
4. Email back and forth with clients, lawyers and insurance adjusters
5. Constantly check my monthly billable hour totals
6. Type documents...letters, briefs, motions....ad nauseum
7. Put Hudson to bed after brushing teeth, putting on pj's, telling momma nite-nite, reading several books, singing the Doxology, and telling him I love him
7 things I can't do:
1. Bake
2. Pronounce "foliage"; I either say foil-age or fo-lee-age
3. Use a blender; I have destroyed two or three blenders during our marriage
4. Do laundry without shrinking/ruining some article of Lizzy's clothing
5. Wear a baseball cap without looking like a big sissy
6. Purchase clothing for myself
7. Turn off a decent movie showing on TV even if it doesn't end until 1 in the morning
7 things I say most often:
1. "This is Chris"...how I answer my phone at work
2. "Your honor"
3. "Hey family"
4. "Love you"
5. "Gaca"
6. "Mr. [pronounced Meester] Hud"
7. "Hello, this is Chris Myatt with Spicer, Flynn & Rudstrom in Memphis, how are you?."
7 celebrities I most admire:
1. Winston S. Churchill: statesman, leader, iconoclast, soldier, author, genius, and man who, to me, is the quintessential embodiment of classic British-ness
2. Bob Dylan: over 40 years recording relevant music, mysterious, I could go on and on
3. Ryan Adams: he makes writing songs seem about as difficult as brushing your teeth
4. Victor Davis Hanson: I'm stretching the outer limits of "celebrity", but hey, it's my blog post; Hanson lives in Northern California, is a professor of military history and classics at Stanford, a conservative columnist and author, and a 5th generation farmer of his family's land where he grows grapes for raisin production. That, my friends, is a sweet gig.
5. David McCullough: again, I'm stretching the "celebrity" label; McCullough is a historian and author of books such as John Adams, 1776, The Great Bridge, Truman, etc. I've read three of his books, and I don't think you can do any better than McCullough for history brought to life. I even like the font that they print his books in now. When I say I'd like to write a book or two before I die, what I mean is that I'd like to write a book like David McCullough does.
6. Fred Thompson: I just like the guy. He treats voters like adults, which is probably why his campaign never got off the ground. Better to make absurd, yet empty, promises to voters that can't possibly be kept. He's honest, a federalist, and he's from Tennessee. He's the only guy to whom I've ever made a campaign contribution.
7. Clarence Thomas: He's brilliant. Read his autobiography, My Grandfather's Son. He was born in a house with a dirt floor and no electricity or running water in 1948! Not 1848. He later went to Yale Law School and is now, of course, on the Supreme Court. Of course, since his politics are to the right, he is vilified and demonized in the black community and by the left. Why is it that the only type of diversity that liberals cannot tolerate is diversity of opinion? I will never understand that.
7 favorite foods:
1. tamales from Germantown Commissary (with chili, of course)
2. a good piece of plain cheesecake
3. BBQ....from Memphis, not Knoxville
4. donuts...plain glazed or custard-filled; Gibson's donuts in Memphis are mucho good
5. ice cream...I could eat it every night, almost any flavor
6. most Mexican food
7. pepperoni and sliced meatball pizza from John's Pizzeria in NYC

You make me laugh. I already told you, but I am still surprised by the doughnuts and shocked by the omission of skiing. We'll buy you some land one day.
