This is a picture of Lilah Burch that was taken today. She's beautiful huh? Looks like she's perfect..got it all together, resting peacefully. The thing is, she has a broken heart...literally. When I got this picture of her today, I thought it was so ironic that she looks so good...except for the band-aid over her heart. The significance of this picture spoke volumes to me, and so what to do with a mind of swirling thoughts...blog. I think this picture of Lilah is a picture of all of us, definitely me anyway. I think from the outside everyone wants to look good, like they have it all together...and many times we can pull it off. But the truth is, all of our hearts are broken. They are all corrupt and dirty, not able to function the way they were meant to. The fix...no band-aid can do it, no doctor, no medicines... not even the best self-help books. Here's the truth..."Therefore, O house of Israel, I will judge you, each one according to his ways, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall. Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, O house of Israel? For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent and live!" Ezekiel 18:30-32
There it is...repent and live. Get a new heart and a new spirit. Even though it may look like it, nobody has it together... we are all broken, we are all in need of a Savior, we all need a new heart.
Thank you dear Lilah for teaching me so much. I hope you rest well tonight.

Thank you for expressing this! This is so where I am at - I always want to look like I have it all together but I rarely do. I did know you moved - we were there your last Sunday - I came up to talk to you and hug you but you were surrounded by people. We'll have to keep getting to know each other through the miles :-)
Liz thank you so much for this post, it really spoke to me. I want you to know that I am praying for you and the burch family. I know that it must be so hard to see someone you love go through such a difficult time. Baby Lilah is so beautiful in this picture!
What beautiful words you choose in this post. Thank you for the reminder.
