Some new things around here...

Grace Ann is 6 months old this week.  I can't believe it...I am 30, I am married, I have 2 children, my youngest child is 6 months old, I have wrinkles around my eyes and am starting to notice all kinds of funny old lady "skin spots" on my face...where does the time go? Grace Ann, a.k.a. Gaca (first a long, second a short), GA, Gracie, Gracie Girl, is great...happy, healthy, full of life.  She loves...her brother, any crackling/squeaking/music playing toy she can put in her mouth, her feet and toes, "flying" in the air, and looking at herself in the mirror.  She is laid back, content, peaceful...I can't really think of anything she doesn't like.  She is a joy, and truly, I can hardly imagine life without her.

Hudson has been calling her something for several weeks and I just couldn't quite figure out what it was he was saying.  I knew he was saying her name, but couldn't get exactly the syllables.  This week I got it...Gaca...as soon as I said it, Hud said, "Yea...hey Gaca." I think he was kind of mumbling it before because he knew it wasn't quite right, but now that he knows that we get it...it's full force ahead.  He woke up the next morning and went into the den saying, "Hey Gaca, hey Gaca, hey Gaca," as she is almost always up before he is...she was not there, so he went into the kitchen saying the same thing...no Gaca (she was still asleep), so he went back to her bedroom door with his morning greeting.  Warms my heart.  You always wonder where people's funny nicknames come from...I am confident when Grace Ann is 30 (and has 2 children and old lady spots on her face :-), she will be telling this story and explaining why her brother calls her Gaca.

Our other new thing is Hudson's rapidly progressing talking and his curiosity.  He has started saying all kinds of things, short  sentences, and we find ourselves constantly looking at each other trying to figure out what he's saying...while he is looking at us so desperately wanting to communicate.  It is mainly about things he wants (usually food or "dink") but sometimes just telling us something he sees...and he has been talking in his room when he is going to sleep..."all don mama".."sowee (sorry)"..."big tuck"...what is going on in that brain?  And curious, wants me to explain everything... especially cooking in the kitchen...below are some picts from one morning this week when he wanted to watch me cook...so, I pulled a chair over and he stood in the chair and ate his cereal while I explained to him how to make a chocolate chip cake and pot roast.  Hey, I can't give him too hard of a time...I am afraid he comes by it honest.
