Happy Father's Day

Tomorrow is Father's Day.  It's my first with my little Grace Ann in the world.  It is still hard to believe sometimes that I am the father of two.  Being the father of two wonderful kiddos is a blessing in countless ways, but it has also taught me more about what life is about than anything else.  The most basic fundamental lesson:  Life is not about me.  Not even remotely close.  I knew that before Hudson and Grace Ann came along, but not really.  Translating that from my head to my innards is another matter.  But I feel like it's happening, although at a glacial pace.  I am at least more aware of my selfishness.  Of course, I am still dreadfully selfish. Lizzy knows (and likely so do many others) but she's too sweet to broadcast my faults.

So, on Father's Day, I say thanks.  For the life lessons, for the love of my family, and for my father who taught me so much, including what it meant to be a father, and who blessed me in countless ways, except, tragically, with length of years on this earth.  Love you, pops.

Happy Father's day to Chris. I never thought you were selfish, just cheap. haha ( no new tv for you!) The pictures of Mike are priceless. We all loved him too. You dad definitely made being a husband, father, grandfather, and friend seem so natural. Your children will see a glimpse of their Pops thru you. I do. Thanks for loving my daughter and grandchildren as you do. They are blessed! Love, Carol

What a thoughtful and loving way to honor your father. It makes me sad that he isn't here to be involved in your sweet family.
